Snow White & the Huntsman by Lily Blake . Charlize Theron as Queen Ravenna was almost hypnotic to watch, while Chris Hemsworth was . These two were in their element throughout. Even the newbie actor Sam Claflin did a good job. The cinematography and scenery were fantastic. And the costumes were just fabulous!
Snow White And The Huntsman 14-09-2016 2/2 Snow White And The Huntsman Other Files Available to Download . Fairy tale When the Evil Queen had learned from her Magic Mirror that Snow White will be the fairest of them all, she orders an unnamed Huntsman to take Snow White into the deepest woods to be killed. As proof that Snow White is dead, the Queen demands that.
These two elements were the movie's strongest points, which is why it was nominated for Best Visual Effects and Best Costume Design at the 8. Academy Awards. But most importantly it was an impressive directing debut from Rupert Sanders that held my interests. It was a very grotesque and interesting take on the legend of Snow White. And Florence + the Machine's specially written song was just the cherry on the cake. I lsiten to that song everyday.
I sometimes think to myself, . As usual she was stale, joyless, and unemotional. Thought the entire thing she struggled with her accent, her blank stare was cringe worthy, and watching Stewart try to rally an army to help her defeat Queen Ravenna is one of the most embarrassing things to see. She looked so awkward against the fantasy backdrop that I felt almost sorry for her.
At least she looked like she had fun. I swear these poor bastards look as though they. He sort of looks like he's vaguely confused. Though I suppose I can't blame her for looking miserable. Sanders didn't exactly give her exactly a useful or exciting Snow White character, but more on that later.
So what do my thoughts on the book have to do with the movie? Despite the obvious fact that this is the book adaptation of the same movie, what I'm trying to say is that I was expecting this to be good. Or at least an enjoyable read. You know the old saying ?
In this case that line is utter bullshit. This wee book of 2. To me, it felt like they captured Kristin Stewart's acting and made it into a writing style.
Think of the scene where Snow White is running away from the huntsman through the forest. Think of the scene where the witch is running away from the dwarfs.
For her fans this is great. For people like myself who like a bit of life; not so lucky. Soon the shadows were upon them. The warrior's armour was similar to theirs, but beneath it were black shadows that shifted and swirled like smoke. The king looked up, stunned.
All around him, his men were attacking the shadows, and one by one, each warrior exploded into the morning mist. That little passage right there? That's the entire battle in the beginning (save for four lines).
While reading something as short as this, you don't feel connected to what's happening. And if you're not connected, then you simply don't care, and if you don't care then you become bored.
This is what unfortunately happened to me. The fact that not one, not two, not three, but four authors chose to ignore this rushed writing.. If done properly, this book would have been at least a hundred pages longer and much better. And don't give me this . Sarah Blakley- Cartwright's Red Riding Hood was amazingly written and quite enjoyable. The eerie tone was perfect, the mysetery was there, I felt the danger - - and let me add in this little detail; I hated the movie, yet I liked the book.
Well, I liked the book until the author decided to piss me off by not including the last f. I'm still peeved about how they never made an edition including the end. I'm getting off track. Was there a page limit or something?
But I still think Lily Blake, Evan Daugherty, John Lee Hancock, and Hossein Amini should be ashamed to let such a big story be crammed into such a small space. For shame, four authors. FOUR SHAME! HAHA! Okay, I'll stop now. But at least I amused myself. So what was wrong with the Snow White in this tale?
Your probably looking at all the promotional posters and pictures and trailers and watching Kristen Stewart running around in her shiny silver armuor with sword in hand and your wondering how could I find her useless. In both book and movie she was as interesting as paint drying. After watching the movie I will admit I was upset that our pure maiden actually didn't do much save for riding on a horse in said shiny armuor and was (view spoiler). Remember that useless knife- wielding lesson Eric (AKA the huntsman) gave her in the movie? That wasn't even in this book. I find it difficult enough to believe that Snow White rode to battle with one lesson. Now you expect me to believe she did it without any lessons at all?

After being stuck in a tower for years? This Snow White doesn't have to rely on actions. It's who she is - - that's why she's so special. She is so full of natural goodness and healing, that she makes everyone smile in her presence. Once again she brings magic with that beautiful green- eyed gaze and pouty lip- bite. And all of a sudden BAM WACKA- TA WHOOM SHUUUM she is a badass ready to cut some bitches.
At least mention that she had some training. Don't just expect me to think that she was secretly a sword wielding Lara Croft after all the time wasted walking around a forest acting like a hippie and petting white dear. You don't become a warrior with just a snap of your fingers. It just doesn't happen, mi amigo. Yes near the end she finally grabs a sword and some armuor, but it. So for the most part this cool picture above lies.
You lie, cool poster with Kristian Stewart in battle armor with crows flying about. So it's no secret that you might notice that I didn't enjoy any of the Snow White parts in either movie or book.
But what about everything else? Like I've said before this movie is a very visually beautiful film.
But with the writing this dampers the scenery with it's hurried nature and simplicity. There were so many moments that could have been described wonderfully, but was utterly wasted with this writing style. And not once were the outfits described. Not even the tiniest little sentence. For all I knew they were all butt naked. And for those who don't believe clothing can be described, I present to you Sarah J. I admit I don't like Miss Maas's books, but damn she can write about purdy dresses.
I said it once and I say it again; four shame. But what about Eric and William? Did they enchant me at all? They were, unfortunately, very flat in the novelization. Poor prince William didn't have a whole lot of time to shine in the movie, but in the book he might as well not have been there.
While Eric was more colourful then the prince he was still very fusty to read about. Even the info- dumps about his past were oddly placed.
Granted we learn more about him and his wife in the book, but still.. At least in the movie you could feel a small spark, yet here it's lazy and came out of freaking nowhere.
It went just as quickly as it came, too. So I gave this book two stars. Why on earth did I do that?
I did it because of my darling Queen Ravenna. I loved her in the movie, and I loved her in the book.
Admittedly I never had sexual thoughts to anyone in my gender, but then this throne- robbing witch came into my life. But it's not like I was the only one. We had so many moments with her for the first and second chapters, and it was marvelous. It was simply delicious to read about her way of thinking and her schemes to rule all the kingdoms.
It was just amazing, and possibly the best parts in the book (not that there were many good ones). And then we switched over to Eric's and Snow White's views and, well, here we are. Not only was this change a major let- down but it also made me see something I had never seen before and therefore tainted my love for the movie and Ravenna herself. I realized that Queen Ravenna was one of those stereotypical man- hating feminists. She kills her latest husband and says with utter vengence and hatred (in both movie and book). They ruin us and when they are finished with us, they offer us to the dogs like scraps.
Her hatred to men was only amplified in the book, and when I looked around the internet I found many people actually calling the Snow White & the Huntsman a . I was when I saw the movie, I was when I read this book, and I still am now. I believe that my gender shouldn't define what I like, what I do, or what I say. I thought that was how everyone viewed feminism. In my little imagination I thought it was something to be proud of. But then I came onto the internet and quickly found out that it was almost a sin to be such a thing.
That people like me wanted to rule over men instead of standing equal. So in some eyes I am the devil's spawn. I bet you anything that many people will un- friend and un- follow me after reading this review. Not that I really care, but anyway. The film and book sets her up like a . She has misandry views on life, as therefore is no feminist. Let's get that out of the way.
She is the one to put herself on top and treat those below her like scraps. She does not see anyone equal to her. And I wouldn't mind, but we're supposed to feel sorry for her. Even though she's a villian, we're supposed to understand her in some way. So really it's the book and the internet's fault for dampening my love for Queen Revanna. Now she is just a generic villain set out to tear out men's hearts from their chests. From the characters, to the writing, even to the 'illustrations' (which was two chapter headings and some weird crow drawing on the first page).
If you liked the movie even remotely, then don't bother with the book. It will ruin it for you. I now cannot find the previous fun I had when watching it before this. And if you liked Queen Revanna, then definitely don't read this. And broken in the most horrendous way possible. I do think this is the coolest gif ever in existence, and that's why I randomly put it here.
